Charitable Foundation
Founded July 21, 1989, the Bremerton
(Central) Lions Charitable Foundation was created with
the remaining funds from the sale of Camp Sundown. The Articles and
By-Laws stipulate that the principal funds are
non-spendable, with the further stipulation that 25% of the annual earnings are to be added to the “non-spendable” funds. The
remainder of the annual earnings are available for community projects as
determined by the Board of Directors.
Tax-exempt under Internal Revenue Code
501(c)3, the corporation is organized exclusively for
educational, charitable, religious, scientific and literary purposes,
within the meaning of the Code. The Foundation has a 7
member Board of Directors, 2 of whom are immediate past club presidents,
with 5 members appointed by the Board of Directors
of the club, each for 5-year terms. Voting membership of the Foundation is
comprised of all active members of Bremerton (
Central) Lions Club.
